Summers with kids can be exhausting and expensive! From jungle gyms, museums, parks, play dates, zoos, preschool classes, and non-stop activities that included both fun and learning! We went everywhere! With my plate feeling a lot heavier, I thought about how I could help other moms or parents! Here is a list of everything that I think was and is helpful for our kiddos (bio and step)..especially during the summer!
I also will include my Amazon Outdoor faves IF MONEY IS NO OBJECT!!!
1. Outdoor activities!
If your child has an older sibling we all know how much they look up to them and want to do what they do. My son loves watching his big bro ride his bike so we thought this was a perfect time to take his bike out for a spin! It took a little persuasion, but now he loves it and rides it like a pro. It started with short rides (2 house lengths) and yes we had to pick it up and carry it back in the beginning but now he rides it for sometimes half a mile. I also feel like this helps get his “wiggles” out of his legs and helps him sleep better!
2. Astronomy!
Ok this falls under outdoor activities but we really love going outside, taking walks, and star gazing. My little guy loves the moon and it’s kind of become our thing.
3.Online learning with a computer or tablet….hey, it’s the way of the world!
4. Play-doh and kinetic sand are great sensory activities for kids, if you don’t mind the mess then this is for you!
5. Cooking and baking-If I get a little chair and have my guy next to me while I bake he loves it! He likes to do the stirring and of course taste the finished product!
6. Work out! My kids love to work out. Teaching healthy habits and expending energy in kids (especially boys)!? Win-Win!!!
7. Attention! It’s easy to go through the motions of your day and focus on household/work duties…we are all guilty of this! I know I am! We have to remind ourselves to be present with our kids even if it is playing hide and seek, painting, or watching a movie/cartoon together!
A book to help out with paying attention for overall happiness!
Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for moms! Don’t forget to check out my past post on more things to do (this was during COVID but still applies).
