Father’s Day! What Men Really Want!

May 13, 2020

Father’s Day is coming faster than a Jimmy John’s Delivery Boy! Even though the days are going by slower than usual due to this quarantine, it is right around the corner. Father’s Day is June 21, 2020 and I am not exactly sure if we will be able to go anywhere by then. Just in case we are not I thought I’d post some simple ideas that may be helpful to my mamas!

I am writing this for all the amazing fathers out there! Even though I am a mother and more important haha…totally kidding or am I?

No, but seriously, a great father is everything to his family. He is the pillar and strength of his household. I am lucky to be with a father who is the most gentle, hardest working, funny, and handsome person I have ever known. Oh sorry, and strongest (he made me write that). If you are in the same situation and are fortunate enough to know, be with, or even are divorced from a great dad, consider yourself just as lucky!

Remember, guys are a little different than women (and by different I mean a completely different species). Many women tend to like thought out/mushy acts of kindness. There are lots of men, who….well.. don’t really care about that dog and pony show. I have asked my partner in crime to help me come up with a few “manly” ideas that would make for a memorable Father’s Day. Men are simple creatures. If you asked me before I got his opinion, I would have said buy him a cool tool, a delicious meal, and leave him alone for the day! Turns out these were his top 3 choices! Go figure but not original enough for this article. So I am going to do what every good woman does and take control and make my own list!

Here are my top 5 ideas for Father’s Day!

#1
A subscription to a new app such as ESPN, UFC Fight Pass, and DAZN or any of the many apps that coincide with his hobbies. If he’s into fitness install My Fitness Pal and Map My Fitness!

#2
Upgrade his work out collection with maybe a punching bag or a plyometric box. Even if they don’t use it, men love to have this stuff…just in case!

#3
Gift cards to O’Reilly’s or AutoZone! Top it off by giving him an unlimited supply of microfibers and a spray wax and really blow his little socks off. Not to mention it will really get him off my back for a week, or keep me off my back for a week, either way works!

#4
A new espresso machine. Most men love a good cup of coffee! I don’t know about you but I just love gifts where I can benefit too!

#5
Ok fine… get him that silent compressor with more PSI (eyeroll here) he was salivating over on our last trip to Home Depot!

Also, let’s not forget about my blended families out there! Just like my mamas, step dads and dads should do the same thing. Show the kids you can be amicable. I know this really isn’t a “dude’ thing so ladies if you want to help out, little gestures go a long way. A personalized coffee mug, a thoughtful T-shirt, or some nice socks (something you know he will enjoy but is also not disparaging) can really show appreciation and most importantly, take a load off of the kids!

Happy Father’s Day and if you have any ideas for me, e-mail me!
